Christina Gentile, MA, RCT, CCS

Christina is a Registered Counselling Therapist and a Canadian Certified Counsellor-Supervisor. She received her BFA in Music with a Minor in Religious Studies from Concordia University and holds a MA in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. Having lived and traveled around the world, she brings an international lens to her counselling practice. She also speaks French and German fluently.

Christina’s approach is holistic, strength-based, and trauma informed. She draws from various modalities including Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, Focusing, mindfulness-based practices, dialectical behavior therapy, as well as music and art-based methods. She has extensive training in the areas of eating disorders, body image concerns, domestic violence, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss. She brings a warm-hearted approach to counselling with a deep respect for the integrity of the individual and their social and environmental context.

Christina is also a voice coach and a certified yoga teacher with a personal practice in meditation and pranayama. She is honoured to be living and working on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.

Melissa is an Acadia Masters in Education Counselling student completing her second practicum at the Acadia Counselling Centre. She has a BCD with Environmental and Sustainability Studies from Acadia University.

Melissa brings an anti-oppressive lens to her work with students. Her approaches are holistic, trauma-informed and strength based. She collaborates with students to find the best path forward for them and their unique context.

Melissa is a queer, cis-gendered woman who loves spending her time in nature and community.

Intakes and Case Management/Supportive counselling only* David (he/him) has been employed at the Counselling Centre since 2020. David is originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Along with clinical therapy, David is the counselling centre’s intake coordinator and case manager. Case management appointments are primarily for resource navigation both on an off campus. David has been primarily interested in trauma-informed approaches and how a fuller acceptance of oneself can lead to change and openness. Emilie works with students who are navigating complex challenges that impact mood, motivation, and relationships. She values the strength and self-knowledge that students bring into therapy. These resources are central to locating new and meaningful pathways forward.

Emilie’s approach is trauma-informed and compassion-focused, with an emphasis on embodiment, creativity, and relationality. She collaborates with students as they identify and move towards ways of being and relating that are consistent with their values and goals.

Emilie received her M.Ed in Counselling from Acadia University. She brings knowledge and experience in addiction services, community mental health, and international education into her role as clinical therapist.
